The first Elegant Decadence event of 2017, at Nambucca.

Nine Day Decline - post-punk goth three-piece.

The Ghost of Lemora - the long-running alternative act have had a bit of a change of line-up since their last album, with new a drummer, keyboardist, and bassist, and slightly heavier sound than before.

Manuskript - scene stalwarts, Manuskript attracted a number of their dedicated fans to this, their first London gig for a while, for their particular brand of energetic goth.

As usual, photos free to use please credit Simon Landmine.

Popped down to the Oval Tavern on a Saturday evening, as some friends had said they were heading over to see at act that they'd seen elsewhere (and the Oval tends to be a nice place to be, anyway). Took the camera along, just because (although the Oval can be challenging for photography!)

The Silver Darlings - A folk-ish act, performing the songs of their lead singer/songwriter (who also performs solo).

Sieben - A violinist performing live looping of violin, vocals, and various percussive noises created on the violin, a style reminiscent of Jordan Reyne or Jo Quail. His most recent album, The Old Magic also raised faint comparisons to Wardruna. (As an additional bonus, he gave out copies of some of his earlier CDs, too.)

Elegant Decadence's second event of the year

La Chanson Noire - A three-piece together on stage for the first time, with the Portuguese singer and pianist joined by a drummer and guitarist, playing what has been described as chamber goth, although they might have benefited slightly from a darker and more intimate venue for their sound.

Rhombus - The first time back in London for a while for the Yorkshire-based five-piece playing in the classic gothic rock vein, combining male and female vocals with danceable tunes and catchy choruses.

As usual, photos free to use please credit Simon Landmine.
