Unsurprisingly, some museum websites have quite imaginative, and/or humorous, 404 pages ...

Some examples ...

It's an old one, but a good one.

  • If a former significant other turns up unexpectedly after a long absence, don’t throw yourself into his/her arms right away.
  • That goes double if they refuse to eat anything.
  • Triple if they turn up at night and want you to leave with them immediately.

And the rest are here.

A link to a webcomic page which doesn't quite fit on my monitor in one go, mapping out the creative process. As a map.

For those who've not seen the links in [personal profile] cavalorn or [personal profile] sunspiral's journals, and especially those of you with a steampunk or mathematical bent (or who simply don't like street musicians or poets), these scroll-down-style webcomic pages are well worth reading ...

Lovelace - The Origin

Lovelace and Babbage vs The Economy

Lovelace and Babbage vs The Economy pt2

(Featuring snatches of authentic dialog, an amusing Twitter reference, and some history - also known as what happens when a professional animator is between films, gets distracted on Ada Lovelace Day, and rather enjoys it. Some of the interstitial musings on the blog are also rather amusing.)

Thanks to the inestimable [livejournal.com profile] hairyears for the link:

[giggle]

Descfribed by [livejournal.com profile] hairyears as Anoraknarök ...

Right, now to head out to try to find a replacement flush handle for my loo cistern - the internal bar has snapped off completely - looking slightly underengineered.

This xkcd strip.

... is that it's, according to the rollover, a true story. [grin]

... yet I still feel strangely amused by this TwoLumps.net cartoon ...

Might have to add that one to the "Bobby Tables" xkcd that I have on my desk divider.

(Meanwhile, today's xkcd is rather good, too.)

Theory of Conservation of Ninjutsu

Fundamentally, there's only a finite amount of ninjutsu available to a side in a single fight - explaining why one ninja is a deadly threat, but an army of them are ninja-burger.

Some of you may know that I'm quite partial to The Whiteboard, a vaguely paintball-related webcomic, which started life as a white board on the wall of airsmith, metalworker and now also cartoonist Doc Newton's shop in Alaska. It's been going a while. Recently, they managed to fit in a bit of current Alaskan news about governor Sarah Palin ...

The link below the strip leads to the news story which gives some form of sense to the strip. Well, some form, anyway, for a given value of sense, with 80s rock references. [grin] Pity she's a Republican, really ...
