See the brave hero do battle!

On this page, after an initial explanation of the punctuation splurge that accompanies Donald Trump, Jr.,'s name when it appears in the pages of the New Yorker, there is a video in which that publication's copy-editor makes a brave attempt to turn a couple of Trump speeches into something that might resemble language, without changing the notice. He makes, let us say, a few changes.

Brave, brave, soul.

Cloud Commuting
1. Working remotely, often from home (with the concomitant likelihood of being in a dressing gown).
2. Drifting along public transport access routes (corridors, platforms, etc) on the way to work, oblivious of the people behind you who may actually want to catch the train/bus/tube.

Pseushi (n)
Looks like sushi, but isn't quite the real thing. As often found next to the sandwiches in Boots or TESCO Metro.

(I actually quite like it, but YMMV.)

A phrase I was about to use to describe the movement of the afore-mentioned foxes around my garden in their search for the warmest sunbeam ... but which, at the last moment, I rejected ...

furry sundial

Still, at least the word gnomon wasn't entirely relevant.

Photogothy (n)
The practice of taking photos of people in graveyards, draped in cobwebs, wearing lots of hairspray, or generally just the capturing of goths' images/souls on film or pixels. Viewed as tacky by some, and fun by others.

menander, v. (me-nan-der): to walk in that strange indeterminate directionless manner, common to little old ladies and elderly gentlemen, as well as tourists, which always seems to place them directly in the path of anyone behind them in a hurry, as if they were capable of mind-reading as well as wilful obstruction.

"She was menandering all over the place - it took me ages to get past."

Flying from transit lounge to transit lounge, because no country will actually let you leave the airport.

I suppose this is the poll which I should have asked instead of this.

Dear Addiscombe, yes, I admit that in my hat and duster, as seen in the icon, I may look a little like some kind of twonk en route to an unpopular fancy dress party. The important bit to me is that I look like a dry kind of twonk, while you all appear to be a touch soggy.

And, following on from previous discussions and reminded by a comment by [ profile] littleangel_103, a poll about regional languauge. )

If sending an e-mail which is going to result in you having to do more work, would it be a case of "Me and my big mouth", or "Me and my big fingers?"
[Poll #539069]I probably shouldn't be allowed to think in public.
