Should have remembered that case-based USB ports on older boxes are likely to be USB1 or USB1.1. It takes a while to transfer the contents of 2GB of CF card at that rate. Now, where did I put that USB2.0 PCI card?

EDIT: Ah, found the spare card - 8 minutes instead of 40. That's better! Now just to replace that failing monitor ...
