When my old department moved from the first floor to the second, we got the joys of the radio that the rest of I&O used to make the office less boring.
Well, until TwoTroughs started complaining. If it was audible, it was too loud! Eventually, the thing was taken away, thus reducing the (already negligible) love for him in the office!
Headphones are also now verboeten. A couple of (now departed) colleagues, JungleTrekker and LaidBack, used to plug themselves in when doing work that didn't need distractions. We then got a decree from on high saying that people walking through the department thought that it looked unprofessional, and we would henceforth ceases and desist. (Never mind the shouting, horseplay and general carry-on that goes on in other departments...) A pity, really, else I'd get some benefit from my paid Spotify account!
