Hurrah!
Trying to remember when I last made a substantive post ... ah yes, that would be Thursday (or never, depending on valuations of my worth).
So, what have I been up to?
Thursday & Friday Good question indeed. Thursday night I returned to Brentford, scene of the preceding evening's Rocky Horror Antipope, to watch The Dreaming perform Eric. Shorter, and even more frenetic than Antipope, but still well worth going to. Spent time afterwards in the bar, as Mads (WINOLJ) bought the entire cast a drink or two. Discovered that two more cast members are on LJ, in addition to
tallarn, that another used to work at Travelling Man in York, and the stage manager was wearing a WGW t-shirt and, according to the programme, runs an alternative clothing stall in Scarby. And thence back to Mads' for more alcohol, by way of a trip to the random mini-market near her flat. Next morning awoke to discover that one of our number might have overdone the drinks-mixing, and was feeling somewhat frail. Spent the day crashed on the sofa at Mads, reading, and occasionally looking up to watch Crying Freeman, starring the God of Cheekbones, Mark Dacascos. Eventually wandered off to transport, with
valkyriekaren wandering off to minister to the still-ailing
wechsler, and got home just in time to watch The Three Musketeers as O'Connell, Sutherland, Sheen, and Platt buckled their swashes against Curry and Wincott. Rar! I love that film!
Saturday & Sunday Not a great deal achieved on Saturday morning, and then over to
elves_uk and
elfee's place in the wilds of South East London for watching The Matrix and The Animatrix, as well as eating their food and drinking their drinks. Many thanks to
elfee for the steady supply of rather good baked nibbles, and the sublime veg lasagna which I was treated to before they would let me leave. Eventually, leave I did - to go to Pacified, at The London Stone, courtesy of
preachermuaddib. Good venue, although the bar staff was somewhat lackadaisical, and the occasional glass was a little grimy. Apparently there had been some rather outstanding technical hitches regarding patching music sources into the Eerie Pub System, but thanks to the remote assistance of "Panicbutton" J from Interlock, this got sorted just as I was arriving. Of course, it could just be my aura, or something.
meryc,
hsw, and
valkyriekaren were all present, and after
interlock arrived, there was some questionable conversation (about certain things having faces, IIRC) - and even some dancing. I think the Morticia test tubes could be partly to blame, as well as the Sins. J turned up from the studio with Interlock's electronic extra member, which provided an interesting selection of music. Once the decks issue has been sorted out, the night shows definite promise, despite the fact that I offered my DJing services to
preachermuaddib - I feel that I can manage metal/industrial/goth from my collection ... [grin]
A lengthy trip home to Croydon, having, as per usual, missed the hourly train by about a minute, followed by a lazy morning under the duvet. Trip to the garage to get some rather nice pasta and some garlic ciabatta for a carbohydrate overdose lunch, and, after a trip to East Croydon station, took some string and a screwdriver to the dashboard of MineBringer. End result: my car is now sticking its tongue out at me - a long red tongue, tipped with a gold spike. But it does mean that I can now connect my CD walkman to the car stereo. Huzzah! And at some point I might replace the rather garish red Cambridge Audio interconnect with something more subtle (and probably black).
Coming attractions And tomorrow is the brunch chez
littleangel_103, with Tuesday being back to work and then Bisexual Underground at the Mitre. Then Wednesday is a leaving do at work (deja-vu?), and Friday is B-Movie. Hurrah!
And I'll finish with a sig lifted from a friend's email:
Live like there's no tomorrow
Sing like you're in the shower
F*ck like you're being filmed
[grin] Adieu to yeu and yeu and yeu ...
Bum. Have just had to trigger the reserve on my key-operated electricity meter, as I'm not sure whether my remaining pennies would have lasted until I will get the chance to top up the key. Add "Getting real electricity meter" to my list of things-to-sort-out-about-the-flat.
So, what have I been up to?
