Well, spent a very good afternoon at [livejournal.com profile] meryc's yesterday with a rather fine Cthullu game run by Clive. Good fun had by all, even if [livejournal.com profile] meryc's character did murder two of the other PCs. And afterwards a fine vegetable broth with dumplings, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] hsw. Apologies if I over-stayed my welcome, but I got onto a bit of an unstoppable geeking roll. And if anyone out there has a spare copy of the Shadowrun 3rd Edition supplement Man & Machine for sale, or sees a copy in a shop, please tell me, because I'm finding it a bugger to track down ...

I think I volunteered to run some Judge Dredd RPG at some undefined date after my Part 1 finals as well. Oops! [grin]

The day was also made better by popping into the Post Office to pick up the CDs that Amazon inexplicably sent in three separate packages ... on the same day. So I've now got my fix of cheesy TV themes, as well as NMA's Vengeance on CD at last, as well as Brixton Mortars by Carter. Just waiting on 101 Damnations now.

It would appear from my last poll that there are people out there who would like me to put together another lyrics quiz, so I'll get to work on that this evening, so you've got yet another thing to do on your Bank Holiday. I might even do two, as I'm inspired by the "20 lyrics from your playlist" meme which resulted in [livejournal.com profile] interlock writing such an "interesting" piece of fiction - but not having an mp3 playlist, I'll have to base it on one of my home-made compilations. And for those of you who asked for one where they might know some of the answers, I'll then work on another ...

Spent the first part of today doing a mundane shopping thing, and purchasing some new black combats to celebrate the impending summer (and it thus being too hot for jeans). Dropped into CRUK (the shop formerly known as Cancer Research), and picked up a Meat Beat Manifesto sampler CD from 1996, and the original Roxy cast recording of The Rocky Horror Show, to go with my assorted other versions. And all for four quid.
Thence into the Minebringer, and taking the lids off for the first real time this year, connecting up the CD player, and hitting the road ... to go to the centre of evil Currys. I was asking them to refund the money I'd paid for the dishwasher I ordered two months ago, there still being no sign of it. Instead, I'll be taking my business to the handy little shop around the corner, as there I know that the phone will actually be answered by a human being, rather than my call being looped around (at my expense) in an automated call "handling" system, that an no point seems to allow a connection to a carbon-based lifeform, even such as work in Currys, and definitely no possibility of reaching the "named person" on my receipt, who would allegedly be "happy to help with any queries". Yeah, like f**k! [cleansing breath][grin] With that out of the way, back to the parents to pick up mum and her Skoda estate to go to the garden centre and get some pebbles for what is currently code-named "Brighton Beach". On our return to Landmine Towers, the lawn was mown, and we liberally scattered ant powder on some rather surprised looking ants. The cotton-wool cat has now moved (with its owners), but I've already seen a black-and-white cat sitting at the end of the garden. Succession is fast in the cat world! And then inside to work out which of two choices would be good material for the curtain in the study, after looking at options for painting "The Cloister". [grin]
Oh, and this morning I also popped into Maplins on my way through Croydon, and picked up a very budgetty CDRW for backing up stuff. I'd been thinking of getting an external one so I could rotate it between both of my PCs - but at the price this one was at, I can give them one each and still come out ahead. There's a niggling voice at the back of my head saying "It won't be that easy", but nothing ventured, nothing gained ... [grin] If I don't post from home again for the next month, you'll know it's all gone horribly Pete Tong.
