Last night [livejournal.com profile] valkyriekaren, [livejournal.com profile] jhaelan, Laura WINOLJ and I converged on The Ship in Croydon to partake of the quiz. Not quite as obscure as some had been, and our team came equal first with full marks in the first two rounds, as well as raising a cheer with the team name. The Table of Doom has been a Ship quiz fixture for the many years. However, we were playing in the name of "The Occasional Table of Moderate Peril", which raised a decent sized laugh. The third and fourth rounds were not quite as good, and we dropped five points. And then we pulled back up in the fifth, with two wrong answers, and then we unveiled our secret weapon - Chloe WINOLJ - for the intros round. That was scary. 100% correct, and several of them spotted within the first bar. She did admit that she suspected that the intros had been taken from the 90s Indie Best of album she happens to own a copy of, but it scared me. A decent second place, behind Foff's team (winners of 5 of the last 7 quizzes). We would have beaten them if Chloe hadn't been occupied most of the evening, as she knew at least three of the ones that we got wrong, so a moral victory, at least. I did feel like something of a fifth wheel most of the time, though ... [grin]

There was a slight disturbance partway through, when two of the bar staff arrived with one of the advertising stand-ups for The Punisher. One of the cinema-size ones - 7ft by 4ft6 or so. This was carried through the bar, and set up at the far end. Now Jon just needs to work out how on earth he's going to get it home, as the only car he has access to is his brothers - and Bungle drives a Mini ...
