On Monday Cabaret Solutions presented an evening of burlesque, sideshow and fire acts - ending with an attempt by Preacher Muad'dib to break a Guinness World Record for extinguishing fire rods. With a week to go, I was asked whether I'd be willing to provide the interim music for the event, as well as acting as music-on-cue button-presser for the artistes. The latter being a role that I don't think I've performed since a Youth Club event somewhat over twenty years ago - and that on a cassette deck with a temperamental (i.e. inconsistent) counter. Still, don't think I cocked it up this time. The performances all went well, and, pending validation from that Big Book, the record attempt did too.
The playlist for this one was interesting, as I was trying to pick tunes that weren't necessarily dancefloor-pleasers, but more in line with the atmosphere of the venue and event. Think I managed it. Anyway, here's what I played ...
