Last weekend Living On Video took over the top floor at Electrowerkz again. Last time we had steampunk, this time we had post-punk, with Hot Gothic, Luxury Stranger and Partly Faithful all playing live. With three live bands and two guest DJs (Rob Cowlin from Terminal Gods and Jonny Terminates Here), the DJ booth saw some pretty rapid handovers and short sets ...

Living On Video's musical theme is "dark 80s", but a rather looser definition of 80s than is applied for Whitby - as a result, tracks from around the 80s, or modern tracks that sound 80s are also allowed (Editors, I'm looking directly at you, there's no use hiding).

My set
Killing Joke - Eighties
The Clash - London Calling
The Jam - Going Underground
Sisters of Mercy - Floorshow
Siouxsie and the Banshees - Happy House
Teardrop Explodes - Reward
Bow Wow Wow - I Want Candy
The Specials - Too Much Too Young
The Bangles - Walk Like An Egyptian
The Cult - Li'l Devil
XTC - Senses Working Overtime
The Pixies - Monkeys Gone To Heaven
Laibach - Tanz Mit Laibach (Birthday request by promoter's mate!)

Jonny's set is here.

The Next One ...
The next Living On Video event will be Reproduction, again at Electrowerkz, on Sat March 23rd. 8pm 'til 3am (possibly 4 if we keep the floor moving and drinking), £7 on the door, a live set from Futureperfect, and we're widening the genre box to include, and I quote "old school industrial anthems and dark electronic classics from 1978 - 1998" ... which means I'm already picking some crunchy favourites which may replace the punk numbers in my set ...
(For those of you on FaceBook, the event page is here.)
