Taken at the National Trust canalside tea-rooms at Bodiam Castle¹ this summer, some kind of finch (I think - I'm not very good at recognising flying creatures) a male chaffinch² decided that the crumbs of my coffee and walnut cake looked appetising.

The plate's admittedly rather bright, but it was a very shiny white plate in very strong sunlight. On the upside, it probably acted as a light reflector, helping illuminate the subject. [grin]

¹ There's a second set of tea-rooms nearer to the Castle, but we decided on refreshments before heading up.
