[DJing/Setlist] VVvSS present Hammer House of Hedonism, Electrowerkz, Sat 3rd Aug 2013
Last night Victorian Vampyres vs Steampunk Slayers put on another night at Electrowerkz - this time 'Hammer House of Hedonism', featuring cabaret stints from Darren Demondaz and Nigel Osner, live music from AlterRed, Gladstone and The Mysterious Freakshow and DJ sets from Darren, Scott McMahon and me.
I covered the opening set (as people were starting to show up), the first interval (between Nigel and AlterRed), the third interval (Gladstone to The Mysterious Freakshow) and then the final DJ set. The last set was slightly random as for much of it the room was virtually empty (the room, not just the dancefloor) - people had headed down for the fine weather, nicotine and conversation, and the free gig next door at Slimelight, and those who'd not paid for our bands earlier weren't allowed up to hear our DJs - which at least meant that I got to play a random selection of tunes that I fancied hearing over the big PA, targeted at the couple of people around, and if anyone wandered in and started dancing to what was playing (which happened several times), I switched to that as a genre.
Also had the personal win of a member of venue staff asking "What was that track you played straight after that band?" (Brunel by The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing) - followed by them handing me their smartphone so I could note it down for them. I like it when people like being introduced to new music.

Next DJ appearance: Shenanigans: One Of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing at Canal 125, Caledonian Road, on Saturday 31st August.
