I saw that earlier, but didn't realise it was Pratchett himself - should have guessed from the signature, really!

My mum's cousin has lived with that for a good 15 years now, and isn't really any different, apart from the loss of confidence (she hid for a long time) and the shaking hands. She still does a million crafts, and works part-time (she's a librarian) and is just as eccentric as ever. (And I owe her a letter). So, I think he's right to remain optimistic. He's in a line of work where he might be slowed down a bit, but he shouldn't be stopped from writing!

In related news - after Robert Jordan's passing away due to illness last year, Harriet has announced the author who will be finishing off the last book in the Wheel of Time series based on the notes and dictations he made. So the book should be published towards the end of 2009.

Aaaah poo. Bugger. Still, hopefully he'll be able to keep writing for a few more years. When he finally goes, the writing world will be a sadder place.

I tried to do some digging to see if it might be a hoax; I could only find one actual place that it had bee published: where you pointed. It seems like everyone else is pointing to the same one URL, which makes me wonder. I found nothing about it in the hoaxkill websites, be it true or false.

Still. eep. I've sent the link to [livejournal.com profile] sunspiral, who would want to know.

That's PTerry's signature at the bottom, and Paul Kidby is the guy who does most of the covers of PTerry's books.
