EDIT: The questions refer to a video camera with remote, not a still camera with remote.

1st question should have "dodgy if in the wrong hands."

Do we know anyone with the wrong hands? [grin]

Do we know anyone who doesn't have the wrong hands? :-)

I've said I've got one, but actually our old Sony camcorder with a remote died recently and the replacement Cannon doesn't have one.

I didn't specifically buy a camera with a remote, it just came with one. Didn't use it much, but it was useful. Especially when watching tapes on the TV, so we could sit back on the sofa and fast fwd, etc in comfort.

Every year for Xmas we put the video camera on a tripod to record the kids opening their presents, it was useful for that too.

TBH, it never occured to me this was dodgy until now. I think it may all be in your twisted little mind :o)

Camcorder remote can be useful for playback. Still camera remote... not so much.

The RC1 was the first accessory I bought for my SLR. I have often wondered who apart from trannies buys them.

Actually, I've got one too. Although I've not used it yet ... but it's nice to have - and will be nicer once Jacobs replace my studio strobes ...

Aye, I remember the shutter button on my old Praktica, back before I bought my EOS-1000F 35mm. Never had a cable for it, though. Although I do also have one of the cheap wired remotes for the EOS-400D, for those long tripod exposures from behind the camera (as opposed to the remote, which is for in front).

Yeah, I was going to say something along those lines. The wired remotes are cheaper, don't need batteries and allow half-press focussing. I stand by my assertion that anyone who buys an RC1 is a tranny ;)

Heh.

It was more for the vague possibility that I might end up in front of my camera for once ...
