Dodge Challenger Vapor

It's stupid, but ... [grin]

(Also features a Mustang with a fighter-style cockpit.)

I squealed!

Where do I sign up?

I want one...

Hmmm... looks kinda ooogly, but then most US cars of this type do *shrugs* The backside especially just doesnt work for me.

In fact... saw the new Knight Rider last night (at least the opening credits and went all NUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuu! and this looks quite a bit like the new KITT *shudders*)

Also... "The Vapor is set to run almost silently, thanks to "stealth exhaust" - whatever that means." Errmmmm... isn't one of the major points of a motor like this is that the vroom vroom noise it makes drowns out a V-bomber scramble or something. So 'stealthy' exhaust isn't really going to work now is it *rolls eyes*

Now a Veyron with stealth paint, EE/BAC Lightning style cockpit with bang-seat and a pair of Red Tops hung off the doors... plus reheat... drools.

Hmm... wonder if you could get a Veyron with a RR Griffon under the hood....

Well, yes. [grin]

I like the look of it, though - happy to ditch the exhaust. [grin]

Yep - it reminds me of Knight Rider too. The current version is a Mustang.

I've seen the first three episodes and it lacks any semblance of a plot.

PS I assumed a stealth exhaust was to difuse the heat signature so that air to "air" missiles wouldnt target it.

The thought had crossed ... [grin]

Unlikely. The paint will absorb a very small amount of the radar waves, but all the glass and smooth body panels will reflect them straight back. Stealth vehicles rely on their body shapes reflecting radar off in different directions.
You could try a carbon fibre body shell - that absorbs radar much more effectively.

Actually the glass *not* reflecting the radar would likely be a bigger problem - the inside of the cabin would probably make a great multi-corner reflector! I suspect that the section over the headlights would be a great source of RCS too ...

If you really wanted to make it stealthy, then maybe pyramid dialectric RAM on the leading and trailing edges would help. Also need to pay attention to panel joins too, possibly better welding the doors ala the "General Lee"?

I am reminded of the car from The Wraith.

(Given your - and my - history of watching trashy movies, I'm pretty sure you've seen it)
Monday, June 15th, 2009 04:23 pm (UTC)
Yep, I've seen it. [grin] The Wraith car was even fancier, though - there's some information on the Wikipedia page. The same page also reminded me that it had Sherilyn Fenn playing the girlfriend.

And Clint Howard playing a creepy ugly short guy - that never happens!

I am somewhat confused as to why the USAF, owner and operator of pretty much all the coolest fighter jets in the world, feels the needs to muck about with some decidedly second rate muscle cars in order to have cred. If you want to appeal to people with cool technology, err, wouldn't all the fighter planes be a better bet??????

At the very least they could have used a better donor car.

But consider - they're using what appeals to the blue-collar tendency. So I'm afraid it's going to be V8 muscle cars all the way.
