[Poll #1492824]

Inspired by a spirited discussion as to which biscuits we should have in the office ... [grin]

In (mostly) non-biscuit-related business, happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] rich_r!

You forgot the king of all biscuits! The chocolate hobnob is truly the best and only biscuit for a busy office.

[grin] Maybe. Plain or milk? [grin]

However, this was a digestive-specific poll. [grin]
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 11:08 am (UTC)
Plain.
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 11:23 am (UTC)
milk - i don't do plain!
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 12:34 pm (UTC)
Milk.
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 10:56 am (UTC)
This! Or the chocolate caramel version.
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 11:02 am (UTC)
Thirded! :D

Milk-Choclate & Caramel Digestives!
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 10:58 am (UTC)
Those are good too. Although would be better with plain chocolate. And that's an upgraded biscuit, rather than the classic chocolate digestive ...

You haven't defined the use for which the digestive is intended. For dunking in tea, it has to be plain. But for consumption undunked, the chocolate versions are preferred. Plain chocolate for me, unless it's the Cadbury's milk chocolate variant.

And thanks for reminding me I'm 36. :) You will be next week...

I believe the function is "biscuit, office, generic" (as it would probably be classified by a quartermaster). But predominantly non-dunked, I believe.

And thanks for reminding me I'm 36. :)
It's what friends are for! [grin]

I believe some boffin decreed that the chocolate digestive* was the best biscuit for dunking in tea. The rationale behind this is that the chocolate is meant to prevent (or at least delay) the actual biscuit from dissolving into the tea!

An experiment I've not tried for myself.

*It wasn't specified whether it should be a plain or milk digestive!

Nonononono. Milk chocolate for dunking in tea, no chocolate for eating with cheese. Obviously.
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 07:36 pm (UTC)
No, plain chocolate for eating with cheese.
Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009 07:57 am (UTC)
Ah now, you introduce cheese into the discussion. I agree, plain for cheese - maybe with a smidge of butter if the cheese is a dry one.

But for me, no chocolate for dunking. Chocolate for unmolested biscuits.

Hurrah! We have bourbons. Tesco value ones are actually better than the Proper.

I feel that the plain Digestive has the wider range of use. I would not wnat to (say) stick cheese on a choccie biccie, but a mild cheese on a digestive is surprisingly pleasant. And as all know, cheese can be kept in the USB-powered desk fridge, so...
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 11:38 am (UTC)
If any of us had USB fridges, that would be an excellent idea. Mmmmmm, cheese. Unfortunately, this is for general nibbling (and we are sadly desktop-fridge deficient).
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 12:34 pm (UTC)
I believe you can buy yourself one from a suitably geeky provider of hardware... Otherwise I imagine it would now be a top-tier item on a gift-list for landmines.

Unfortunately, there's no space on (or under) my desk here for anything else, and that kind of power usage might be viewed as misuse of charity funds ... [grin]
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 05:03 pm (UTC)
...eww, did someone just say mild cheddar (http://www.cix.co.uk/~kbrown/rotm/1998may.html)? >.
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 05:14 pm (UTC)
I happen to like mild cheeses myself, young lady! [points]

Dark Chocolate wins every time :)
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 11:55 am (UTC)
Though the caramel ones are best. If they did those with dark chocolate as well I would be a happy bunny.
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 12:12 pm (UTC)
We should petition McVities.

Mmm... dark chocolate caramels.

Oh, I know those guys! They've been at the Natural Products Trade Show for the past few years and I've chatted with them. Nice guys. I totally support their product and what they're trying to do in the world.
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 12:07 pm (UTC)
Obviously you should have ALL THREE types of digestive biscuit in the office, and you can each the biscuit which reflects your mood and liking at the time!
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 12:15 pm (UTC)
Now, that's embracing the power of "and"! [grin]
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 12:28 pm (UTC)
Plain is the only way to go (plus, it's much more healthy for you than milk chocolate)!
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 12:57 pm (UTC)
I have a packet of digestives with caramel at home :-)
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 01:36 pm (UTC)
I am amazed that anyone needs to ask this question ...
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 04:24 pm (UTC)
Well, I wouldn't, but I wanted to check my opinions against the sampling of LJ ...
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 01:45 pm (UTC)
Meh, get some REAL chocolate cookies.
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 04:10 pm (UTC)
Where is the "Gluten-free digestives just don't cut it" button, Mister?
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 04:18 pm (UTC)
Sorry! Although that's not really a required button [grin] - I think most people would agree - especially those who need gluten-free food.

I didn't know you were angling for the leadership of a political party...
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 08:34 pm (UTC)
I posted the results of a scientfic survey in our kitchen last year which had proven that the the plain hob nob was the biscuit which was most effective at lifting the mood of meeting attendees.
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 11:00 pm (UTC)
I think that's the fact that they're the Highest Common Denominator - they're the nicest biscuit that almost everyone likes ...
Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009 05:44 pm (UTC)
Putting plain chocolate on a biscuit is so very very WRONG!

It's Milk all the way baby. Even for dunking - actually Especially for dunking :P
