Either I'm coming down with flu, or this old age thing my youthful colleagues keep going on about is really vicious, and has decided to start early. All hail the great god Beechams ...
Friday night was wonderful - thanks to everyone who turned up, and especially
zoo_music_girl for booking the table. Hope everyone had as good a time as I did, apologies to anyone I annoyed or wound up, and just so you know, Deirdre (WINOLJ) said that you were all really nice and friendly, and put up with her talking about herself for at least half-an-hour. For other reviews of the evenings silliness, see
lproven and
jhaelan, among others. Then went to Dead and Buried up at the Lord Nelson, which was again rather good, and pretty full.
Went to see a student performance of Stephen Briggs dramatisation of TP's Maskerade at Imperial on Saturday night, and then returned to my flat to spend my first night there - on an air-mattress, due to the current lack of more suitable bedroom furniture. Rar, it feels like home, even without my books and CDs!
Then on Sunday went into Croydon by tram to buy a bed, which process has now been acheived. While queuing to confirm my spec, I ended up buying Fellowship of the Ring on video (it was cheap, OK!), and rather spiffing new Walkman to replace my old one (which has developed the annoying habit of switching itself off at random) - the new one can play Mp3 CDs, thus saving the trouble of changing CDs when going for long drives in the car (as well as Sony's even more impressive Atrac3 compression - or is that pronounced 8Track? Then proceeded to spend the evening curled up and shivering.
Woke up this morning feeling equally shoddy, and am hoping that I feel better before tomorrow, or that will be truly unfair.
Now looking like I won't be making it to The Calling on Tuesday night, as there would appear to be a lack of transport issue (not having heard from either
childeric or
mr_prickle), and I need to be back in London bright and early on Wednesday morning.
Have now discovered why Holland & Barratt jars don't rattle (they're mostly full of cotton wool), and that their Vitamin C and Zinc lozenges are truly repulsive.

I will not be making it either, which I suspect, stuffs up everyone's transportation issues. Hoping to go in January sometime though.

We must. And also another trip to The Wendyhouse is in order too methinks.
Hope the house stuff goes well, btw!
Thanks. We accepted an offer today, so things are progressing well, and very much ahead of schedule.

"Hello, Zinc, and you are?"

Apart from that, I suggest hot toddies made with whisky, lemon juice and honey, and lots of sleep snuggled up in a comfy place.
