If you haven't yet had a chance to complain about my album covers quiz being too abstruse and challenging, please pop along (via the handy link above), and have a go (and post a comment so that I know you've had a punt).

(Behind the cut below, the images are linked from the answer text, rather than being plced in line, for those evil souls who browse from work.)

Part the First: The answers

1 In the foreground a small boy in white shirt and black dungarees is jumping up. Behind him two small boys in black t-shirts and jeans are darwing a chalk corpse outline, shown in orange. Behind them to the left an ambulance is pulled up next to a derelict burnt-out graffiti-covered building. Above them all the sky appears to be roiling with orange fire, and the band's logo appears in top left, as if projected on the sky. The band's name is in the same flame orange, with the album title in block semi-transparent white lettering along the bottom of the image.

Biohazard - Urban Discipline

2 A circular saw blade on a black background. The band name and album title are printed at the top of the blade with the track titles around the circumference of the blade. In the centre of the blade is an outline of a sheeps head with mismatched eyebrows, with crossed syringes behind.

Sheep on Drugs - Greatest Hits

3 A small girl in a checked dress sits on a swing on a sandy playground washed out by bright sunlight, shading her eyes as she looks towards the camera, as her shadow stretches out behind her. The bands name appears as shadows on the ground in the background. Stretching from the bottom right of the image to the mid left is the shadow of a threatening figure, head tilted to one side.

Korn - Korn

4 A book bound in scuffed black leather with darkened brass corners and spine rests on stony ground, leaning against a rock. The band name is in red serif capitals across the top of the image, and the album name across the bottom in red cursive.

The Marionettes - Book of Shadows

5 The band name is at top left in white, with the album title in red at the bottom right. The main image is of a man's face being punched hard by a fist and forearm entering the image from the right.

Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power

6 A figure painted gold is curled over to the right, with its head hidden inside a shiny dustbin, both standing on a polished wooden floor, lit from the right. The band name and album title are in white capitals on a narrow red rectangle in the middle of the image.

Therapy? - Troublegum

7 The image is mostly in shades of red. The background depicts a destroyed United Nations building, with the flags of the countries still flying in front. Three jet aircraft swoop down from the upper left. In the right foreground stands a skeleton dressed in a suit and tie, with heavy staples clamping the jaw shut and a metal plate over the eye-sockets, and chained plugs where the ears would have been. The skeleton is leaning on a For Sale sign. The album's title is printed above the skull, while the band's name runs across the top of the image in brass colours.

Megadeth - Peace Sells ... But Who's Buying?

8 The band name at the top and the album title at the bottom are in a distorted decayed white font. The image is a composite face on a red background. The left side of the face is the current pope, and the right is Queen Elizabeth II.

Pitchshifter - Deviant

9 On a background of dark blue, the band's logo glows with electricity at the top of the image. Shocks strike down to hit and illuminate an electric chair in the centre of the image, with the album title in small white capitals at the bottom.

Metallica - Ride The Lightning

10 The band name is in white across the top of the image, which depicts five men in tight shiny retro suits, wearing fezzes, and larking about with a cocktail shaker, martini glasses and a giant jar of olives. Immediately behind the men is a long white convertible, and in the background is a suspension bridge.

Me First And The Gimme Gimmes - Blow In The Wind

Yea, I do verily rock! \m/

And now, in traditional reverse order ...

(And don't be embarrassed if you scored low - at least you attempted, which is more than some people ... [grin]) Scoring was 1 point for each of artist and band. Half-points indicate truly valiant efforts.

1.5 - [livejournal.com profile] gothgrr
2 - [livejournal.com profile] nils, [livejournal.com profile] sushidog, [livejournal.com profile] arkady
3.5 - [livejournal.com profile] redcountess, [livejournal.com profile] velvetfox, [livejournal.com profile] steer
4.5 - [livejournal.com profile] thepaintedone
5 - [livejournal.com profile] thecesspit, [livejournal.com profile] minusbat
6 - [livejournal.com profile] purplestuart
7.5 - [livejournal.com profile] zoo_music_girl
8 - [livejournal.com profile] godgirl

And now the final three ...
9.5 - [livejournal.com profile] yaruar
12 - [livejournal.com profile] darkstream
16 - [livejournal.com profile] naturalbornkaos

No great surprises with the top 3, there, although some surprisingly scores among the others. And I didn't knock any points off [livejournal.com profile] velvetfox for randomly answering "Bob The Builder" (Sheep On Drugs), "The Birdy Song" (The Marionettes), and similar.

Congratulations to everyone who even got a point, insufficiently hampered by my dodgy choices or poor descriptions! I'm currently working on a lyrics quiz, so it's probably time to unfriend this journal before I post that one ... [grin]

I should have got therapy and I knew there was a megadeth in there somewhere.
