The car tax on the MineBringer is due on the 1st July. This is fine, I have MOT and insurance. And then I checked the small print. The MOT certificate must be in force on the day the car tax starts. Arse. My MOT expires on 30th June.

Can any members of the Croydon massive recommend a trustworthy local garage, who can do MOTs, and don't tend to add on imaginary work?

Alas, I can only recommend Faber Garage in York. :( Good luck!

I believe mine is done at a garage off Grant Road (at the back of the Alma Tavern IIRC). My Dad used to work near-by and would get it done for me - as yet I've no cause for complaint.

Hmmm ... back of the Alma tavern, you say? [grin] Other than that being the dodgiest pub in Croydon, it also means that the garage is about three minutes walk from my flat, which would make it rather handy for dropping the car off ... I can just drop the keys off rather than the car ...

You couldn't drop me a line sometime with the name of the garage, could you?

I'll have to look at an old MoT certificate to get the name - no point in saying I recommended you as they wouldn't know me from Adam!

I'll look at that tonight. :-)

I can recomend the bunch who did our MOT last year, told me the brakes and tyres would both need replacing before he next MoT, which they do, but didn't try and stick me for them at the time.

They're in Redhill though, so not sure you'd want to venture this far down.

I normally use the Black Horse Service station

Can you do MOTs? [grin]

(Actually, also needs a new cam-cover gasket, IMHO, and the timing chain rattles, so probably needs replacing or re-tensioning.)
