[Poll #391494]Inspired by popping into one of the little shoe shops down Brick Lane to pick up a new pair of steelies which aren't coming adrift from the soles, and they had all styles available, but only up to an 11, which was a little too snug for dancing. Suspect that's something else to buy on Saturday - the list's getting longer ...

I dont htink 12 is large, then again i wear size 15 trainers.
Size 12 is easier to find these days. When i was a size 12 when i was 12 years old it would take us weeks to find shoes to fit.

[grin] Yeah, I know I'm really muttering about nothing, as depending on the footwear I can take 11s, which are much more common. But I've got fairly wide feet and given that there's not a lot of 'give' in a steel toecap ...

[livejournal.com profile] wag_9393's link below is illuminating, although badly spelt ... but if the percentages are still accurate (given increases in average size), then you're off the scale, dude!

indeed. My problem is also wide feet. I can wear size 12 sandals if the straps are long enuff but i need to go size 15 for normal shoes. HAvign actaully talked to shoemaker once he actually said not only were my feet wide the psotion of hte widest bit was also different from average.

Aha. So you need to earn enough to have custom-made shoes. Or get thyself up north, and get some clogs custom-made.

Same here. Sometimes I'm an 11, sometimes a 12. The New Rocks I bought recently I got in 12 simply because they had the same style I wanted in 11 *and* 12, and I always prefer the larger size when I can get it. It's easier to wear an extra pair of socks than it is to shave flesh off your feet. :-)

However, I have to admit that I do consider size 12 feet 'large'.

Anyway, you know what they say about men with big feet... :-)

They have wealthy cobblers? [grin]

No, I have no idea. [nonchalant whistle]

Thanks. Now you've reminded me of a German film of Cinderella, which accurately depicted what the sisters did to try to fit the slipper ...

size 12 "large"? *boggle* I have, I think, comparatively small feet for my height (12-13 for most models of shoes; at about 182 cm, call it 6', rounded to the closest whole number of inches).

This shows a distribution of shoe sizes.

Cheers. (Although the spelling hurtz my brane.) I wonder when they got their figures, and whether they are still accurate. Either that, or most of my male friends just have big feet ... hmm ... I feel another poll coming on ...

Trying to find a pair of size 12 court shoes for Diva is a nightmare. Mind you, he's even had problems finding size 12 New Rocks; I think one of his pairs is actually a size 11 and kills his feet something rotten if he has to dance in them then wear them for too long afterwards - but they were the largest the shop had in that style at the time.

That's OK, because if I need to buy shoes on Saturday, that works.

I saw the most gorgeous shoes in the window of Jones the other day - but £65? Yowzah!

These are they.

My son takes 13 - 14, so tends to live in trainers. I'm just glad he's now of an age where finding shoes is his own respinsibility.
