[Photos] The Distraction Club 1st Birthday @ The Phoenix, 2012 04 03

Renowned as I am for the speed and urgency with which I get my photos up online, etc, etc, [apologetic shuffle] ... a few photos from the 1st anniversary of The Distraction Club, the monthly musical comedy night curated by Mitch Benn and The Distractions at The Phoenix, near Oxford Circus. The headline acts have been a fine selection, including a number of comedy/musical legends, and the regulars are pretty damn fine as well. K and I have done our best to colonise the sofa at the front, in my case like a large hairy thing that knows it's probably not allowed on the furniture, but is going to chance it for as long as it can get away with it. As a result, I've been the butt of some stage banter, ended up on the stage with Professor Elemental (admittedly as a prop, rather than in a performing role) and have been lucky enough to have been regularly sung at/to by Kerrie of The Segue Sisters.

In any case, I was sorting through an old SD card from one of my backup cameras, and found these few shots from the April gig, starring Neil Innes as the headliner, as well as a rather fine cake ...

(Thanks to Mitch's rather successful diet, this icon is no longer in any way relevant, as, as K put it, I now look more like "The Ghost of Mitch's Past" (albeit the incarnation that ate his crusts). The photo in the icon, incidentally, was Mitch.)
