Personally, I think it's a classic case of caveat emptor - what does he expect, buying a laptop with only 50% positive feedback?? I wouldn't have touched it with a bargepole myself.
Sure, the blog is a hoot, but he was an idiot for bidding. If something looks too good to be true, it usually is. Why on earth would any business sell a laptop that only requires a new charger? The whole listing just sets alarm bells ringing to anyone with an ounce of sense.

Personally, I'd be very wary of buying anything of that kind of value from ebay - it's just too risky imho.
