Gigmata n. pl. The assorted bruises, scrapes and scratches received from being among an enthusiastic crowd, especially when viewing bands such as Anthrax or New Model Army, who indulge in particularly energetic physical appreciation of the music. May also be applied to more serious injuries, such as occasioally occur.

Heh heh :-D

Goes with my NINjury from when I ripped open my leg going to see Mr Reznor and friends in Manchester last year. I still have a scar... Unfortunately the pics don't do the injury, as it was then, justice :-(

Heh!
NINjury is pretty specific, though - a specific type of gigmata, perhaps?

I agree with you there. There must be other specific types of gigmata, I just can't think of them now.

Listening to The Knife at the mo - they'd be great for a specific gigmata category, but I somehow doubt their gigs are the sort that are likely to prove particularly injurious... Ah well, at least the video selection with Deep Cuts is ace - clearly the work of insane genius :-)

I seem to have an unfortunately impressive bruise in the middle of my forehead, where it encountered someone's elbow last night...

There did seem to be a number of such elbows ...
