[Food] Restaurant recommendations

Can anyone recommend somewhere to eat in the Paddington area - reasonably priced, and not likely to need booking? [livejournal.com profile] rich_r is on a training course, and [livejournal.com profile] cookwitch and I are meeting him for dinner - but none of us know that end of town at all well.

There's a Burmese restaurant on Edgware Road which is rather good: http://www.mandalayway.com

Paddington Station has a Yo!Sushi.

Isn't Yo!Sushi a bit like eating carob when you really want chocolate? I mean, I know it's called sushi, but...

It was a suggestion. I usually ask for some things not on the belt and have never had a bad piece of food from a Yo! ever. Maybe that's just me-I like Yo!

I've had a few bad Yo! experiences, though admittedly not at the Paddington branch.

My main issue with Yo! is the price - an appetite like mine gets very expensive, very fast ...

Not recommended. Been there, they could do far, far better.

Mind you, Paddington's a culinary desert.

Depends on what you're after.

there are a couple of decent curry-houses in the vicinity (5 minutes walk) of the station, one of those Steak-house places virtually opposite (for obvious reasons I've no idea what the grub's like in there!). If you're prepared to venture a wee bit further there are plenty of good foodie places along the Edgware Road from Praed St down to Marble Arch. I'd say most of those would be fine for just turning up.

Oh... and there is a cool-looking place just down the road from Padd (towards Edgware Road) converted from an old multi-floored hardware shop (Langhams??) which opened a few years back... keep meaning to check out their menu/prices.

The Windsor Castle - it has gorgeous thai food, and is the home of the Handlebar Moustache Society of Great Britain.

Last few times I've been in that area, I have (basically) walked in a random direction and usually found a restaurant that serves food everyone in the party wants to eat within about 5-10 minutes of walking. Unfortunately, that means I can't actually recommend any specific place, because taht would require remembering a random walk. :(

I don't eat mammals or reptiles, but apart from that I'm not too fussy. :)

I'll be there around 6:30pm, returning to Reading around 9:45pm if I can.

Edgware Road is generally pretty good for Middle Eastern food (in fact it's pretty much lined with restaurants anyway).

Levantine is an extremely beautiful Lebanese restaurant and not too expensive, the website has menus etc. so you can judge price: http://www.levant.co.uk/levantine/

They also have the most amazing belly dancer who can make her breasts spin in opposite directions, it's quite hypnotising.

I was just about to suggest the same! :)

This has nothing to do with the post. I have just been pointed at the beautiful photo you took of me a Vagabonds in May.
I want to know which way gets you more money, ordering on line or doing an under the table deal with you. I love it and want some copies!

Catherine

Oh great middle eastern around paddington. Edgeware Road has less posh places and good walking distance.
