Well, Driza-Bone coats are definitely worth the price ... got caught in the mother of all downpours last night, heading back from the station to my flat - it was as if I was walking through a very big power shower - set to "damn cold". My boots were soaked, my jeans were sodden up to the ankles, but everything between ankles and collar stayed completely dry. I think I'm going to have to get one of the hats. However, my local stockist has closed ... anyone know a Driza-Bone stockist in London?

And, in other news ... my hobbit-esque colleague, who has grown a beard to stop people comparing him to Elijah Wood (so he now looks like Elijah Wood with a beard) has revealed that he also shares a height (5'6") and a birthday with the star. I've suggested that he just needs some blue contacts, and he could go on a personal appearance spree ...

Tell him to join a look-a-like agency - they make good money for guest appearances all over the place! He might as well earn something out of it if he is going to be approached as the star anyway.

There's a stockist in *shudder* Lakeside. They do the hats too.

Seconded on the lookylikey agency. He could make some extra cash!

I've been beaten to it, i was gonna suggest a lookalike agency too.

Driza-Bone rock! I have one of the stockman coats. Don't know about the hats though. I have a leather hat from Australia that I wear with it. Only problem is that it won't fit in a pocket (or even a bag!) so I tend to leave the hat behind unless it's raining when I leave home.

Yep, mine's a stockman's coat too. And that's why I was thinking of a Driza hat - they're made of the same proofed material, and therefore less solid than leather hats ...

You run the risk of slightly waxy hair for a bit...

Excellent - thus making my hair water-repellent in its own right, and obviating the need for the hat in the short term ... [grin]

There is an easier way to do that you know. It's called Hair Wax.

To quote Holly from Red Dwarf ...

"I've done an inventory of the hold. We've got stuff down there that will make your hair stand on end."

*grins* Wasn't that after he told Lister he'd been drinking dog milk for ages?

As opposed to being merely repellant...

At 5'7" I'm far too short to wear a drizabone. Shame, as I rather like them. It almost trails along the floor, and I look like a Jawa from Star Wars. And with the extra cape-bit on the shoulders, it makes me look very wide so I also vaguely resemble Spongebob Squarepants.

They do 3/4 length ones too. I have the opposite problem at 6'4".

But there's still the width issue.

You could try painting vertical stripes. Aren't they supposed to be slimming?

My first husband was about 5'6", an inch shorter than me, and he used to wear one on his motorbike - he did look a bit daft!
