From [livejournal.com profile] ellenscult ...

You scored as Mindless Action Flick. Congratulations! You'll blow fifteen bucks on the worst script ever as long as there's lots of guns, explosions, car chases, kung fu, and unrealistically happy endings. Reality means nothing to you! I don't know you but just lost all respect for you! Check out: Die Hard, Fast and the Furious, Charlie's Angels (they can fly!), Biker Boyz.

If there is anyone out there surprised by this, you haven't been reading this journal long enough ...

Same here. Ah. I think you and Tex have influenced me! I even caught myself talking about cars last week...

All these meme things seem very US-oriented. I scored as "artistic" (90%) with "mindf*ck" and "sci-fi" in second - still the recommendations (with the exception of Amelie) were US and pretty mainstream.

Ah well. It's not like it *really* matters. And maybe I am being a bit unfair. It got one thing correct though - "action flick" was wayyyy down the bottom. So is it that we're so different that makes us get along, Mr.Landmine?

I suppose it could be that the preponderance of people around the world who would waste time on things like this are based in the good old US of A. And maybe opposites attract?

So as soon as there's a film with all the explosions backwards, with hyperbolic dialogue in Welsh, and lots of animated skeletal hamsters with big guns, we'll have found a film we can both enjoy.

Hmmm... any studios reading this interested in my idea?

"Ach Y Fearsome"?
"Dai Hard"?

Wasn't that an episode of Dr Who?

My landlord suggested "Boyos In The Hood".

This is what I got. It may surprise some...
You scored as Mindfuck. Congratulations, you scored Mindfuck. You've probably seen a lot of movies, and have grown to hate mainstream shit. You're looking for the movie that will leave you breathless, and with 21 questions to think about. Check out: Donnie Darko, Being John Malkovich, Pulp Fiction, Memento.

I think that was Se7en wasn't it?

That was more of a thriller, I thought - not so much actioning - how about "The Usual Suspects"? "Dark City" probably just counts as Mindfuck, without the action.

For this response, I really think their remit of "only US films" has not done them proud. How about "La Jetee"? Svenkmejer's "Faust"? "Un Chien Andalou"? Or if it *has* to be a US film, "Waking Life" or "War Is Menstrual Envy"? The big midf*ck about that last one is being apparently "why did I come to see this dreadful film?"

Oooh! Svankmeyer's Faust is excellent. Although yes, admittedly mindfuck. I have a faint memory that the first time that I saw it was on the cinema at York's old City Screen - built into the museum, and with assorted gothic ruins around the exit ...
