[Poll] Lights on? Lights off?

Today's poll ... when/if you are/were/would be getting naked with company, would you prefer to leave the lights on, or to turn them off? (Obviously referring to occasions when you have control over the lighting, such as bedrooms, rather than in, say, car parks ...) Poll answerers are hidden.

[Poll #1096541]

If you've got anything to add (such as reasons why), please comment! Anon comments should be allowed.

WSS! Too bright spoils the mood as much as anything else. Ambient light (streetlight, tv, monitor) is also good.

[identity profile] easterbunny.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. If bright lights are on I tend to stare at them like a moth. If that doesn't kill the mood, the excessive blinking to get rid of the turquoise tracers will.

Agreed -- this is my personal preference as well. Low light is somehow sexier :)

Yes, lights on low. :)

[identity profile] misterfallen.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it depends, really. It's nice to be able to see what who you're doing, but sometimes it's also good fun to work on nothing but feel... :)

[identity profile] redshira.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, this thing. Mostly I'm a lights-on girl, but sometimes it's good to have to feel your way :)

Definitely sufficient light to see what one is doing. But low-ish light is nicer than bright ceiling lights.

[identity profile] steer.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I note you left out "lights off -- to not see my partner".

Anyway, "lights on to avoid dangerous bashing of heads, tripping over stuff, failure to find things etc etc...."

Definitely low lighting though because bright lights strain my eyes.

Sometimes sex in complete darkness is a turn on... but only once in a while.

Because if anyone has that opinion about their partner, I'd rather not know - it's just rude ...

Lights on... I like to see what I'm doing XD Not who... I always know who I'm doing <3

And, given that there'd be a fumble for condoms at some point anyways, saves momentary blindness and eye adjust time when teh lights go on to enable them to be found :D

Being incredibly short sighted one needs all the visual help one can get! ;-)

Partner's preference, generally, as I enjoy either.

[identity profile] lovelybug.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
*grin* dark and marcus is often a good combo...

[identity profile] battlekitty.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't find the visual side of it important - I prefer to pay more attention to other senses, so light more of a distraction to me! That said - I leave it up to the other party.

[identity profile] black-faery.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 12:56 pm (UTC)(link)
When such am activity is actually part of my life, I tend to prefer very low lighting. Candles are good. :-) So, some light better than no light, but bright light BAD.

Although, that said, daylight and outdoors is a different matter entirely... ;-)

That might be an entirely different poll ... [grin]

Lights on, but thats just cos my video cam don't work well in the dark :D

[identity profile] gothicat.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Lights off as usually I'm on the bottom and I don't want to end up blinded. A lamp is okay, and daytime is better ;)

[identity profile] technotom.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Some light. Not bright searing light, but light is good, so all involved can see the action.

Definitely lights on for ease of navigation. But my eyesight's excellent in low light, and often I'm doing things where I'd be unsighted anyway, owing to the line-of-sight being occluded by this and that.

[identity profile] silverfiligree.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't have an option for "use sex toys that glow in the dark" ;o)

Lights are good if only to avoid elbowing each other in the face and similar accidents, but preferably flattering low lights or candles. A nine point candelabra in the bedroom does come in handy :)

(Anonymous) 2007-11-28 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Lights on, even if only dim, because I'm afraid of the dark.

[identity profile] sunspiral.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Low lighting seems to work best for seeing each other but nobody having glare in their eyes.

[identity profile] blue-condition.livejournal.com 2007-11-28 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Low lights definitely, because the shadows can be very erotic, and, well, just for convenience. Total darkness can be wonderful with a partner you know very well but on the whole I prefer to be able to see what's going on for navigation, pleasure and collecting beautiful mental images ;)
